Spring must be in the air!

At the school where I work we have a block of storage boxes fixed outside that have been unused for a while. One of the children discovered a nest in one section with an egg in yesterday. When I checked today there were 2 eggs!

Unfortunately there is no sign of 'mummy' bird during the day :-(

After trawling the Internet for British bird egg identification. I think we have narrowed it down to either a blackbird or a bullfinch.

The mummy bird must have made herself at home during the Easter break, when school was nice and quiet.

Unfortunately it is in reach of the children so they have all promised to leave the nest alone. In the hopes we don't scare mum off completely.
