Regatta

It was Port Seton Regatta today. Probably the shortest race I will ever do, it is just a fast and furious figure of eight round the harbour, with two boats starting in the middle in opposite directions, going round a buoy, crossing in the middle, round the other buoy and back to the middle for the finish. It takes about 3 minutes, with many heats in each category. The the two crews with the fastest time race each other again. I was in the novice category of course, and in our heat, we were against the winning crew... We were also in the first heat and couldn't warm up properly. I am not competitive but I like to "do my best" and I don't really feel I was rowing well today. Having said that, it is difficult to tell and the whole crew were people like me who have not been in a proper race before... It couldn't have been more different from last week, which was more about stamina and finding a good sustainable pace.
