A quiet Bank Holiday weekend

Does anyone else in Cornwall think that this is a very quiet Bank Holiday Weekend?..................


Between 8-9am I went for a walk along the beach and around the town and apart from dog walkers, there was hardly anyone about. Normally on a Bank Holiday weekend there are loads of tourists wandering around at that time looking for places to have breakfast/coffee.


We're heading back to Edinburgh tomorrow so between 10.45am – 12.15pm I went for my last play on the beach. I played on all the beaches and they were all really quiet. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE playing on the beach with my ball and it's been so lovely that I've been allowed on all the beaches all of the time. In previous years, doggies have been banned from the beaches from Easter until 1st October. This year we don't get banned until 15th May.


At about 12.15pm Ann put my ball thrower into the car because I'm not going to be playing ball any more and then at around 3.15pm she took me out for another walk. Guess what we spotted when we walked through our car park?.................... Our parking post?!!! (see extras). For those of you who read our Blips regularly, you will know that our parking post went 'walkabout' a few days ago. We've been looking for it ever since and Ann started a FB campaign; 'bring my parking post home'. It would seem that someone has brought our parking post home so thank you whoever you are. At least it's not been killed and used for firewood!


For my afternoon walk I just trekked around town on my lead and although there were a few people around, it certainly didn't seem as busy as it normally is on a Bank Holiday Saturday. We can see the thousand space car park from our house and it's not even half full.


So what do you think is happening here peeps?...................


Our bookings are looking really good for the summer but we only allow two people in our house. It would seem that bookings for the larger properties are not good this year?!!!


Obviously last year everyone increased their prices because no one could go abroad and so 'staycations' were the norm. Supply & demand and all that. But this year, with restrictions lifted, all inclusive holidays seem like a much cheaper option for a family. Why on earth would a family of four , pay more than £2000 a week for accommodation only??? With rising fuel costs to get here, the cost of eating out and the fact that the weather cannot be guaranteed, where would you rather be????......................


…..............Obviously we'd rather be in St Ives....................... but only because we have a house here. And yes, we do rent out our house when we're not here, but we haven't put the prices up this year because it's our home and my human just wants to make enough to cover all her bills in St Ives & Edinburgh which are colossal.


Anyway this is the longest BLIP we've written in the last month and that is because we've both had such a lovely time here; there's been no time to faff around writing loads on BLIP.


…............And now there's a tiny corner of our sun terrace where the sun is still shining, Ann has half a bottle of wine that needs drinking, so we're both off out to catch the last few rays.
