Manilda G. Raffe
I've blipped Manilda before, but here she is again because I love her and her story. She sits on this bench in Roosevelt Park, hoping for people to stop and visit. Visitors can read her story on a nearby plaque and then wander around the park searching for many of her personal items that have been left on rocks along the walking loop. The items include her pocketbook, gloves, umbrella, brush and comb and many other things all sculpted in brass. She was created by Michele vandenHeuval, and commissioned in 2001 by the Longmont Council for the Arts. I thought Admirer would approve of Manilda being my Silly Saturday blip, since it's not every day you meet a giraffe in a dress sitting on a park bench. :-)
My plans for today fell through so we stayed home and did outside chores on this beautiful day. I am grateful that the heater in the hot tub is working. It stopped about a month ago and we haven't used it since then. Today was the day to figure it out. Turns out the filters were clogged, and the heater automatically shuts off when that happens. So, it's all cleaned and getting warm. The water still needs to be changed and we need a new cover as ours is water-logged, but at least we know it works. :-)
