Not my favourite annual event: retinal screening at my doctor's surgery. This involves eye drops which dilate my pupils for half the day, and make it difficult to focus on anything close to me. Like a book, or a computer screen at work. All necessary stuff though, and no problems as yet.
In the surgery, on the reception desk, there are some slips of paper with the message 'A group of Christian members of staff would be happy to pray for any needs you might like to share.' I'm not sure how to feel about this as an atheist. It seems a bit odd in a place run by reason and scientific method. Or at least I hope that's how it's run!
