May Day

This was a big day for Emma, she was dipped to Tammerkoski rapids and she become teekkari. (Fuksis can call themselves teekkaris not until they have been dipped in Tammerkoski.)

Every year roughly 1000 fuksis are turned to teekkaris. There are two dipping cages and In one go, a maximum of 10 fuksis are being dipped with one cage. Emma's cage was dipped four times. 

Ranking in the fuksis' jäynä (pranks) competition defines the order of guilds in teekkari dipping. This year Emma's guild Taraki was the fourth (out of 12). 

In the morning hubby, Peetu and I had the traditional May Day Picnic at the Näsinkallio park with the family Laine. Weather was much better than what was forecasted.
