A great loss

This old variegated holly was planted many years ago by my grandparents. It has been slowly dying for the past 10 years. There is a decay hole from one side of the tree to the other. Today I asked hubby to cut it down before it fell. I used the branches from this beautiful tree in my Christmas arrangements every year. I bought a new holly last year but I guess it will be a long time before it will be big enough to trim for such things. It was a hard thing to do and I will sorely miss it.
It must be so hard for the people of Ukraine to see their beautiful country destroyed. Keeping them close.
