the great beyond
The lilac is my neighbor's. She needs to plant it! Somehow the lilac has survived despite being left in the pot forever, falling over, and ignored. I really like it right here. I hope she leaves it here when she re-pots it. Then I can see it without doing any of the work ;-) In the distance is a redbud (I think that is what it is). Spring!
You sank my battleship! Ukraine says it sank two Russian naval boats - with drones.
New explosions hit Russian border city. Things just keep happening at Russian ammunition depots, fuel facilities, and railway bridges. On Sund there was a fire at a Defense Ministry facility.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Germany would support an EU ban on the import of Russian oil. I read a piece that said that oil is Russia's money maker but gas was where it had leverage. Gas is needed to heat homes and run factories so even though it doesn't make as much money as oil, this is how Russia expected to get Europe to submit. Germany used to import 35% of its oil from Russia before the war. Now it only imports 12%.
The US passed legislation that allows the US to skip some previous beauracracy when helping another country with military supplies. It demonstrates that we are going to continue supporting Ukraine.
Britain is deploying about 8000 troops to eastern Europe for NATO exercises and exercises with Finland and Sweden.
Spain sent hundreds of tons of vehicles and ammunition. Maybe the Queen of Spain sent sausages with them and a note wishing them victory.
