RPYC Annexe
The shot was taken across the Royal Perth Yacht Club Annexe in Fremantlle with the harbour container cranes in the background.
For the technically minded , this shot was an experiment in using UniWB and custom K colour temp settings to get rid of the common yellow-orange cast of artificial lighting . I used Live View first and adjusted the colour temp incrementally before taking the shot manually.
It is not some secret thing or discovery by me, but I have not been able to find it in the more common Nikon guidebooks (possibly hard to find in the camera's manual too) and yet it is so useful for low light shots especially with multiple lighting sources such as in halls or concerts. (or yacht marinas!)
It works perfectlywith both Nikon D300 and D700 bodies and there are UniWB for Nikon tutorials for other models on the internet. It is the ability to quickly fine-tune the colour to best represent the shot in whatever light that interests me. I can still adjust the RAW file further in Capture NX2 anyway - the UniWB gives more dynamic range to work with.
I have no idea if the same can be done with other manufacturers gear.
