Ancient Gateway

On my way, prayer walking into Mourão... I always ask for the castle to be restored - the dark parts in the two towers you see were made by Spanish cannon balls hundreds of years ago. The stone walls in the foreground have the indentations where an ancient gate would have been hung. The bit of worn red and yellow on the right wall is showing you where not to go on a designated trail.

Spent a while in the town council building, but managed to get an appointment for next Wednesday, to ask permission to make ourselves a kitchen instead of this beauty. Having a kitchen that wasn't in our bedroom would make hospitality so much easier. Feeling hopeful to ask permission now because of good changes under the new mayor.

Max, the Blipper in Ukraine has posted a link to a long, but extremely moving video on his Blip. It's the city of Mariupol telling her story. Definitely worth watching.

Gratefuls:
- a beautiful, sparkly morning after the bit of rain last night (probably the last till the autumn); the grass is already going yellow
- finishing shou suggi banning the table and benches, still too windy, but really wanted it done
- a bowl of spaghetti with onion, garlic, tomatoes, anchovies, peppers, and salad, and a glass of red, sitting outside at close of day, watching Jaime's sheep mowing our grass, and swallows flitting across the sky
