Today, a customer asked if I could recommend an effective laxative.

I was just about to speak, when a posh, elderly Morningside lady at the back of the queue piped up.

"If it's a natural laxative you're looking for dear, I can recommend the very thing."

Everyone in the shop looked at her expectantly.

"All you have to do," she said, "is read your latest electricity bill...."
