Amandine's Plot Treize

Planting out tender things

Night temperatures have been consistently warmer recently so of course everybody on the allotment has been wondering if the last frost is now behind us...

My new dahlias ('Totally Tangerine') were getting a bit tight for space in their container and I decided to take the risk and plant them out, with some protection.

It was good to see they were completely fine this morning and they're now too big to get decimated by slugs (although the deers are, as always, a potential issue). The seedlings in pots are Rudbeckia 'Autumn Colours', I thought they didn't justify taking up greenhouse space so I put them where they'll soon be planted.

I think it's definitely safe to turn my attention to sunflowers, beans and start making plans for planting out cucurbits!
