As you do
I must confess I've eaten at McDonald's since...well, forever. American-style McDonald's tend to be red plastic seats with a slick feeling on everything (ala grease). It's usually a sea of people eating hamburgers with special sauce oozing out of the bun + a monster sized heap of french fries + an enormous gallon of Coke filled to the brim with ice (b/c refills are free & you can access the fountain machine yourself). I realize this isn't really a complimentary image, but it is familiar & generally enjoyed by most. Today was my first English-McDonald's experience. There were boardroom style tables with wood trim, leather cushiony seats, & contemporary light fixtures. It was clean & the manager was always out front keeping an eye on things. No plastic chairs or slick surfaces. This was a bit strange, but the really different thing was the hot tea served with hamburgers & fries. That's definitely a new thing for me. I'm used to being asked if I want sweet or unsweet (iced) tea with my lunch. Clearly the little boy sitting across from me knew that I was not from around these parts as he sang (quite loudly) "Cheeky Face" while staring straight at me ("as you do"...which is becoming my favorite phrase...I should probably dial it back some). Ha!
