Everyday I Write The Book

Mad Goose day

Hazy cloud but a feeling of warmth and summer balm in the air. I  actually went into the office (so early that I had to wait for my favourite coffee shop to open and boot up the Gaggia) but on the plus side decided to take time out mid morning for brunch rather than having a lunch hour. New approach to eating. Two hearty meals a day and no snacking or late night eating, but unlimited tea and coffee. We'll see if that impacts on my burgeoning belly.

Excellent news locally in that our local council is now controlled by the Lib Dems who took five seats from the tories. I call it the Boris effect. You can only throw so much slime at a wall (red or blue) and not expect it to stick, and Johnson is the slimiest prime minister we've ever had.

Managed to hire a vehicle for ten days for our holiday in Hay-On-Wye. A bit pricey but we can't take our car because of its known problems which means it is only really safe for local driving.

Trip to Guildford this evening and eats in The Giggling Squid which has a decent vegan menu. Rather lovely. Preceded by a trip to The Keep which is now one of my favourite pubs. Spent ages chatting to Jane the Landlady and her mate Sandy. They do monthly movie nights with old black and white films (the next one is The African Queen with Bogart and Hepburn) and are generally good company.

Not the most dynamic of days but a good evening and certainly better than yesterday. Diem non fugit as they say in ancient Rome ...
