There must be an inside ladder to get to the top of the lighthouse, but there is no door out of the cupola. It sounds like the beginning of a mystery plot. I saw him open one of the bottom panels and crawl out, even though my first guess was out the window. It was a beautiful day and he seemed to be enjoying his work.
