Tulips And Pots Galore
A fascinating blipmeet today at the Whichford Pottery Open Day, organised by Technophobe and LooseCanon.
Also present were Hildasrose and Rob, Chrispybox and Mrs Cb., StevenG, and myself with mrfsb
It was very well managed open day, with a lot of demonstrations. There is obviously a lot of skill involved but also they use some nifty gadgets to do things like ensuring the pot profiles are the same each time. I particularly liked the wheel tool which was used to put the writing around the outside of the pot. Very clever.
Some of the prices in the shop were quite mind blowing but luckily terracotta stuff doesn't go well in our garden and we got away with spending just £10 on a small cream coloured pot which as it turned out fits perfectly in a wall bracket we have on the side of the house. Another blip opportunity there when we get something to put in it.
The business was founded in 1976 and is still very much a family run thing, even the cafe where of course the blippers met on arrival for drinks and cake.
In other news we didn't come last in the quiz last night, I will say no more.
