Happy Mother's Day

Today is Mother’s Day in Australia. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Australian mothers we know.

To mark the day, two memories of my mother Ruth’s visit to Australia in 1984: Mum walking across the Harbour Bridge, and her first encounter with a real bush barbecue, on our dear friend Babb’s property Cooinooi. Mum tackled them both bravely: I think she found the barbecue the greater trial. Happy Mother’s Day, Mum.
