Badger watch

P tipped me off that Charlotte Methuen was preaching this morning so I made one of my infrequent appearances at St Margaret’s and was indeed rewarded with an erudite sermon, and the music is always good. I’ve worked out how to scoot out at the end avoiding all social interaction, it’s not so easy coming in but that’s OK and means I am not completely antisocial.
Then lunch and a walk with son #1 and family, celebrating Liv’s first birthday which is tomorrow. We should all have been in Peebles, however Liv is a bit below par with yet another nursery cold so they sensibly decided to stay put in Glasgow. I was not unduly disappointed.
The revised arrangements meant I could sign up for the Badger Watch in Dunlop which I did with two hours to spare. I am preparing myself to see absolutely nothing, but at least I will know exactly where to go and it might feel a bit less risky than Castlemilk Woods at twilight.  I will hold back blipping until I return.
Later … well that turned out to be a very exciting evening. All four of us saw at least 4 badgers, or possibly the same badger 4 times. Led by a very knowledgeable chap who astounded me by revelations of  beaver numbers and distribution, including the Clyde. Be careful what you wish for, comes to mind. The blip is the top secret location of the sett.
Continuing on the wildlife theme the extra is Liv’s birthday cake which my daughter in law so carefully created. By coincidence I gave Liv badger moccasins.
