Heather Joy's 1st Mother's Day

The little man is wearing a t-shirt that reads...Mommy's First Mother's Day, and even though he didn't feel great...he sure put on a big smile for this shot.

I know it was a bittersweet day for Heather (my daughter-in-law). She lost her mother a month ago, and a lot of us know what that feels like. There is a hole in your heart that will never be filled, and we all try to deal with that the best we can. Very hard, though.

If this wasn't Mother's Day, a 4 generation picture of Welker boys would have made the Blip. Grandpa Jim, me, son Jeff and baby Beckett had to be pushed to the Extras. Also in there is a happy shot of the new family.

Mothers. Nothing like them. I said today...dads are dads, but moms are moms. Us dads can be loving and caring and thoughtful, but...there is NOTHING like a mother's love. To care, to nurture, to lead, to shelter, to gather,  to love.

We needed someone to love us,
we needed somebody to lift.
So God created a mother...
and gave them to us as a gift.
