Frederick II, early 13th c King of Many Places
An incredibly rainy day, we visited Enna, a medieval hilltop town with incredible 360 degree views, but today was enveloped in a dense cloud and fog. We visited the cemetery searching for Bruno’s (my great greats) and found some but could barely see down each “street” of mausoleums. Supposedly there’s a view. Having had enough eerie searching, we walked up into town to visit Frederick II’s octagonal tower. He was King of Sicily, Italy, Jerusalem, etc in early 13th c. He was also a great falconer and horseman. The tower is 27 m high a top a wooded hill and a great lookout and strategic point. Not on days like this. There are two large rooms on two different floors with vaulted ceiliings and pointed windows. Medieval Norman architecture
