Gone camping …
I managed to get away in time to catch the window of no rain to set up our tent at the campsite that we, and our family are going away to for two nights.
The weather bureau had predicted rain for the whole weekend, and we wondered whether we should go or not.
But there was a break on the forecast, so thought I’d better get in.
Got there after they’d had a huge downpour, which made everything muddy, but thankfully we got a great spot on a huge patch of grass.
So we all set up tents and thankfully it was overcast which made it actually quite pleasant.
So Jenny, and three of her girls are here with their families, and then the three of us. Ben is working, so sadly couldn’t make it.
We are at a lovely camping/glamping spot at Lake Cootharaba, Boreen Point. There is a really good restaurant on site. It was all upgraded about two years apparently. So you can camp/glamp and not have to cook at all! Genius. But what’s the point of camping if you’re not having barbecued food?!?!?
There are also loads of kangaroos, possums, ducks, miner birds, lorikeets, parrots, and other wildlife around. It’s a lovely spot to bring little ones, which thankfully we have in our group here.
There are also fantastic showers and clean toilets as well, so we really are quite comfortable. And our new tent is very spacious indeed.
Anyway, I got our tent all set up and then had to go pick up Jon from work and Martin too. A lot of driving, but it was worth it, so we could all be together.
We’ve had a lovely evening and the weather has been just great. No heavy rain at all, so glad we made the decision to go, and not rely on the forecast!
Jon’s and my first time camping in Australia.
