Bracing work

Bracing work, braking work, braking or guide work, is a construction with which ships are slowed down when they approach or threaten to collide with a work of art such as a bridge or lock. In addition, barriers are also put in place to give a ship the opportunity to wait in front of a closed bridge or lock.
