Firle Bostal
Bostal is apparently an old Sussex word for track up the side of a hill. This particular bostal is an old sheep track that leads up to the top of the South Downs near Firle Beacon.
It's a popular cycling climb and the views from the top are beautiful, especially when the weather is this perfect.
Unfortunately, although I run quite a bit, it's rather early season for my limited biking endeavours. Also, I haven't yet given in to using old man's gears, even though I am pretty old now.
All this conspired to make this rather challenging, I could certainly have done with a couple of extra cogs on the back. Anyway I did manage it, and enjoyed the descent, even if it only lasted a tiny fraction of the time I took to get up.
I think I need to do this more often.
