Woodville Schoolhouse
Built in 1934, this one-story, three-room schoolhouse served the black children who lived in Aquasco, Maryland at the time. There are many one-room schoolhouses in our area, but this is the only three-room schoolhouse that I have seen.
The history of the building, and this area of Prince George's County, is interesting. Prior to the Civil War, the tobacco farms there, along with Charles County, enslaved the most people in Maryland.
It is pretty cool to note that now Prince George's County is rated as the richest population of African Americans in the United States!
COVID is still hanging on. Fingers crossed that my husband doesn't get it. We have our Cache Across Maryland picnic on Saturday. If we don't go, we won't have finished CAM!
