Blurred Black Bird
Try saying that fast. Scratch that, just try saying it!
A weather vane. And in this context, it does not mean the slang word for a politician who has frequent changes of opinion.
It is believed that weather vanes date back to 48BC in Athens, Greece, where a bronze Triton held a rod in his outstretched hand. The Bayeux Tapestry features a man installing a cock on Westminster Abbey. A challenger to the title of the world's largest weather vane is a retired Douglas DC-3 plane, located in Whitehorse, Yukon. Just some interesting 'facts' that I learned about weather vanes.
As I tend to blip a weather vane every now & then, a reason for which I really have no clue, I thought it might be an idea to do a bit of digging & I find out why they are so fascinating & why they are more common than one might firstly think. I hope you enjoyed a few of the choice cuts that I selected from the relatively little information that exists out there on weather vanes.
NB. I happened to be snapping away up at this fine example in a post-work jubilance, & the blurred black bird shaped object swooped through the shot, thankfully making my snap all that more interesting!
Homemade quiche & a catch-up on Doctor Who & Dallas tonight! What a triumvirate! Jenny & I might spoil the party by firing off a few job applications to law firms.
