Visitor at the door

I’m still a day behind! Apologies…..
It rained for much of the day so I spent quite a bit of time in front of the computer, doing jobs that I know I wouldn’t want to do when the sun returns to beckon me outside into the garden. Nick took Bertie for his walks so between one thing and another, I didn’t venture out until late afternoon and wondered which wet plant might look reasonable enough to photograph in the low light conditions. I needn’t have wondered because this bug happened to be climbing up the wall just outside the back door so I snapped it quickly before it climbed out of range. I knew it was some kind of shield bug and having consulted my insect book, it may be a Hawthorn Shield Bug.
