Adams Canyon
Thursday
This morning, after breakfast, Jen Roger and I drove north of SLC to the Layton area, and went hiking on the Adams Canyon trail, a 4-mile return trail to a waterfall, with 1400ft elevation gain. Unfortunately, I didn’t quite make it to the top, the altitude and my cold conspiring to make the uphill quite tough going for me, but I wasn’t far short! Roger and Jen continued up to the waterfall, so the lower left photograph is courtesy of Roger. However, as you can see I still enjoyed some beautiful sights on the way up! We stopped for lunch on the way back at a Vietnamese sandwich place, which was very tasty. Then Jen dropped us off at our Airbnb so we could rest for a bit, while she and Jason drove to the airport to meet Jason’s Mum Theresa, flying in from Florida. We joined them about 6pm, and had time for a cup of tea and a chat, before Roger and I went to the airport to meet Laura, flying in from Wisconsin! (Fortunately, the airport is only about 20 minutes away!) We hadn’t seen Theresa or her husband King for a number of years, so it was good to catch up. King is retired, but suffers from a few health issues, and doesn’t like to travel much anymore, having spent most his working life living and working all over the world as a civil engineer, including a few years in England, working on the Channel tunnel, when Jason was about 7. We had a lovely evening together, but we were all feeling rather tired for various reasons, so turned in relatively early.
