The Man Behind the Lense - Oor Shaun

We seek him here, we seek him there, however the facts are you can go a whole Kiltwalk day and not notice him, yet he's omnipresent.

Who am I talking about?

I'm talking about Oor Kiltwalk photographer, Mr Shaun Ward.

Shaun has been our resident photographer for a number of years and last year he realised a life long dream when he decided to go full time with his photography business, which in the current economic climate, is a bold move indeed. I know I'm an uneducated eye, but in my opinion you only have to look at the quality of the work he has done for The Kiltwalk, to know he'll be a success.

I was lucky enough to cross the line with my son, Scott last year and the picture Shaun took of the pair of us "caught the exact mood" of how Scott and I felt right at that moment and the photograph sits proudly on the shelf in my office, yet I wasn't aware of him taking it.

I had a catch up with Shaun the other week and he was explaining that there would be a few changes this year.

In addition to the 'field' pictures that he and his two assistants will be capturing, there will be a photo booth at the end, designed to allow groups of friends and family to be able to have a picture taken at the end, which will be great.

The photographs Shaun takes will be available online a few days after the event, with profits donated by Shaun to The Kiltwalk, so if you like them, please buy them.

As we wrapped up I asked Shaun what the attraction of The Kiltwalk was and he was more than forthcoming.

He explained he was proud to be part of everything we're doing, as in his words.

"The Kiltwalk is one of the best things happening in Scotland at the moment, with so many people doing great things for Scotland's kids"

Those words resonated with me, as in a few single words he had quite simply summed up what everyone who takes part in The Kiltwalk feels.

So if you see him on Sunday, or any other Kiltwalk, make sure you give him a smile, and not just for the camera as he does a great job for something close to all our hearts, The Kiltwalk.
