Mowing the Lawn
One of the joys of having a garden is having to mow it. Hubby bought a manual, push lawn mower and he enjoyed pushing it up and down the garden. I love the smell of freshly cut grass. And watching him working brought back memories of my childhood. In Uganda, both homes we lived in had decent sized gardens. My parents employed a gardener, who would regularly mow the law with one of these manual lawn mowers. My dad had a scythe in his workroom and I have memories of him occasionally using it to help cut the grass. There was one time when we lived in Jinja (on the source of the White Nile) we had some friends visit from out of town and one of their girls found the lawn mower where the gardener had left it to open the gate and had fun pushing it about.
