India Mill

This is a view over the town of Darwen with the huge chimney of India Mill. I experimented with RAW images today on a walk across hillsides and moors to Darwen Tower, taking-in some fabulous bluebell woodlands, an attractive path amongst trees, where I took more shots than was strictly necessary. Post-processing has taken longer than usual but I am pleased with the results.

The Tower was built to mark the formal establishment of the "right to roam" on these hills in 1896. The Tower was opened in 1898, the year after the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. It is now being restored and, following delays caused by Covid, they are struggling to complete it for unveiling during the imminent jubilee of the current queen.
