Oil seed rape maze?

It wasn't, although it could have been. There was a path across the rape field, but at times the crop almost engulfed us!

Cliff led us on a beautiful walk today. We started in Prudhoe and took in Ovington and Ovingham. The star of the show were the Whittle Dene Woods. They are carpeted with wild garlic at the moment and the bluebells are pretty too. We also saw early purple orchids here.

Seventeen of us were on the Intermediate Walk. We were lucky with fine weather, despite the threat of showers.

When I arrived home, it was to hear that Ian (next door) needed photographs of some ancient wood. He has pieces of wood from St George's Chapel, removed during renovations and made into book ends. He needed the grain photographing to date the oak used.

The conservatory became an emergency studio. The light was good until the sun came out. Ian then had to shade the objects from the sun. I'm hoping the images will meet the standard required by the expert.

Phew! Time to have some food now.

PS Did you know that in the USA oil seed rape is called canola? I had no idea that the word rape would be banned.

BUT see the helpful information below from Kendall.

Our US visitor, BJ, who flew in yestereday, confirmed this. Wonderful to see her again.
