Funky or Edgy?
Mike tested positive for Covid on Monday after having a bad night, and has been fairly unwell, so today I had to go alone to see the town architect to ask about building a kitchen, making the top building habitable, and registering both buildings as residences. Long story short, we need to get an architect. We've been asking around for years, it's not easy... you can't use the official town ones for a start, and they have to be registered in Portugal, for another, and willing to come to Mourão for a relatively small project, for one more.
Stopped off at Morango Bar for a galão before traipsing home in the heat, up to 33C (around 91F) today. We've gone from lighting the fire in the evenings to keeping the house closed up all day to keep the heat out in just a couple of weeks. And from earwigs and slugs to flies and mosquitoes.
I love Morango's funky vibe, every surface covered with something arty (courtesy of the owner's daughter). Julia called it edgy, and commented how it's not what you'd expect in Mourão.
Gratefuls:
- repotting my geraniums at last; three pots have made seven, and led to a tidying up of the pavement in front of the house
- the architect treating me well
- Mike starting to feel better
