The Comet Inn
Lunch in Lithgow today and a historical detour via Hartley Vale on the way home. It’s in a secluded corner of the mountains, a village I used to visit frequently in my working days although they’ve sealed the road since I last visited!
It’s main historical significance is being on Cox’s Road, the original 1815 road over the mountains. It was also a thriving shale mining town in the late 1800s and that was when the Comet Inn was in it’s heyday.
