Golden wedding anniversary rose

A busy morning in the garden.   Considering we had rain a couple of days ago the ground is still very hard and difficult to dig in places.  Beetroot plants were added to the veg patch alongside the onions which are just beginning to poke through the soil.

After lunch I read a few chapters of French Braid, Anne Tyler’s latest book and then we set off to walk a couple of miles around the fields at the back of our house.  The rapeseed has lost its bright yellow flowers but was still very high and had overgrown the paths in places.

Our yellow rose was bought for us by my lovely nephew who lives in Jersey.  He sent it to us over two years ago to celebrate our anniversary although we were in lockdown then and did very little celebrating.  It’s still looking beautiful and I think of him when the first bloom appears.
