West

I teach middle school science in Southeast Texas. I am a West Wildcatter. Our school mascot is an oilfield worker. I'm proud of West. It's part of who I am. I think in some way it is also why the explosion in West, Texas hurts just a little too much. A little too close. I feel a connection to that devastated little town. Paling in comparison to the Boston bombings as far as media coverage is concerned, West suffered a far greater loss. More loss of life and property devastation.

So today I #prayforwest and this weekend I will #runforwest as well. Running helps me focus. Even if the rest of the country is still focused on Boston... It's the least I can do.
