Last One Standing

About 20 years ago I bought a packet of seed from Inschriach Nurseries ( must check to see if they are still in business, it was a wonderful place for alpines). Lewisia hybrids, Sunset strain, if memory serves - which it probably doesn't, judging by recent lapses.) 

Some grew and flourished for a while, but when we moved here 16 years ago, these were the only ones to come with us, and here they are, still in the same terracotta pan (now disintegrating). In fact they seem to be putting on a growth spurt this year. I keep them very dry, and hardly dare touch them for fear of killing them off after all this time.

My Grannie's birthday today, she'd have been 138.
