The Return of Summertime
At long last (it seems) a day that felt like summer. On a fine sou’westerly we scooted over to Coll, only cheating with the engine for the last couple of miles down the coast.
Ashore with the two-stroke doing its noisy business and we visited the sights, well, in Arnagour. The church, the old pier, middle pier, new pier, whale bones, the Store, and then coffees were had in the sun sitting outside Coll Hotel. Glorious.
Back to the boat then ashore again for a really decent meal at the Hotel. But first we found their bar full of peeps watching the closing stages of the Cup Final down south. Friendly bantz. Word went round that a helicopter was about to land and it was a big celeb. I know who it is piped up an older guy at the bar. George Clooney - he was in Oban yesterday. Suddenly, the sound of blades overhead - the bar emptied, football forgotten. It wasn’t George Clooney.
