The Next Chapter For Our Graduates And For Jonah!
Pastor Wes has joked about having a 4-D experience for the congregation as he takes us through the book of Jonah which would have involved a storm at sea last week and this week would have included sinking down into the depths of the sea, only to be swallowed by a great fish where we would experience the darkness, gastric juices and smells before being vomited up onto dry land. I am grateful that our pastor was only joking and yet it was no joke for Jonah. It was God getting Jonah's attention as Jonah was actively refusing to do what God had called him to do. It was God reminding Jonah that there was no place he could go that God would not be in control of the situation and that He was still preserving Jonah's life and giving him another chance to do what he had been called to do. To Jonah's credit, he got the message and did go to Nineveh to preach to the people there, but that is not the end of the story. There is much more that happened even in today's chapter than I can tell you here. Watch the Live-stream for the full depths of Jonah's experience. At the end of the service, we recognized our high school graduates as they begin the next chapter in their lives. We should be praying that they seek and recognize God's clear direction in the days ahead. I am excited to see what the future holds for them and what the next chapter holds for Jonah! Oh, and did I mention the gratuitous cuteness in this week's collage? I am sure that you will not have any trouble spotting it......
