Stoke Woods
A morning in the shop for me today. It was pretty quiet and it felt odd having no coursework to look at.
Mum came in for a bit having dropped Elsie off for a haircut. Then it was home for a quick cup of tea before heading to the woods with Archie.
Dom loved Stoke Woods and he especially loved Spring when it all came it life - first the snowdrops, primroses, daffodils and celandines, then the bluebells.
When Maisie died Mum scattered her ashes in her favourite spot in the woods and we’ve been waiting for the bluebells to reach ‘peak blue’ and a nice sunny day to take Dom there too.
It was so beautiful, the perfect day for it. I raided the Christmas box for florentines which Dom loved and mum brought Twirls, Pimms and the posh Adnams glasses he wasn’t allowed to use because he’d break them!!! Heartbreakingly I’d bought him a couple for Christmas. In August!! But obviously he never knew. I wish I’d just given them to him but then you’d drive yourself mad if you did everything straightway in case people drop dead. And they would have been a fab Christmas present.
We did our usual walk stopping at all the usual places and it was so beautiful. Mum scattered his ashes in four special places including here where Dom and I sat on that last lovely walk a few days before he died.
So now he’ll always be there when we go. In the place he loved so much.
Mum had the foresight to check the wind direction in the first spot otherwise we’d have got a right face full!!!! Dom would have thought that was hilarious!!!
I miss him more and more. I suppose it sinks in eventually that it’s real.
