On either side of this boat is a thin black line: the hoses from the fuel pumps on both sides. We had pulled in to put gas in the pickup. It cost me about $50. When I peeked at one of the pumps feeding the boat it had stopped at $576. I asked the owner how far he could go on this $1,100 fill-up: a little less than 300 miles. Another reason it’s better to have friends with boats.
