I decided to venture into Blue Hill Wood. It’s at the other end of Ambleside and though I’ve come down through it at the end of other routes I’ve never gone up.
It was steep and my knees didn’t like it but I made it onto the fellside and down again with only one slip. The bluebells were past their best but I liked them with the stitchwort growing together in the main photo. There was also lots of wild garlic.
Some photos from the start to my highest point are in extras beginning with sheep on the run and finishing with the view to the Fairfield Horseshoe.
