Beaver Bridges

The beavers are busy! For 22 years, I’ve walked a trail parallel to Bear Creek. If I calculate a guesstimate, I would say I’ve walked that trail upwards of 60,000 times, and in all that time observed only a few beaver dams. But the past two years I’ve seen an increase in felled trees and dams. Some dams are so big, they’ve changed the course of the water as they create small ponds. Today there were dozens of trees down along the trail, crossing the creek like little bridges. The beavers are changing the topography!
