Recalling Rain

The bark runs in currents along the length of the cottonwood tree.
The larger limbs form tributaries and from these, branch streams flow.

The ducklings advance in their skills in the gently flowing acequia
while their wee cousins are where they were a week ago.

A warm breeze blows upstream
whispering water
pothering hope
that rain may come again.
