Wide Wednesday: The Tide Is High
With the weather looking promising, we headed to Burnham again after we dropped Sophie off at school this morning for a stroll and breakfast.
For the second time this year our visit coincided with a Spring high tide and the main blip shows the River Brue flowing well over the top of its banks. The sea was lapping right up against the sea wall too.
Apparently at times like this the water levels here can rise and fall by as much as 11 metres, the second highest tidal range in the world.
By the time we’d had breakfast and walked to the lighthouse and back a couple of hours later, the water had receded to nearer its normal level - see extra.
