Small Boat Big Bridge

The pilot of this small boat arrived at the bridge while the tide was turning and the currents along this stretch are very strong. As I watched he held position for about 10 minutes before making an excursion under the bridge without passing through. In the end he backed up, with the outgoing current increasingly strong (right to left), and headed for shore.  

Hoping my fragile back holds up for our bowls league match this evening.
