Inaugural flight
I drove to Stanhope today to meet my lovely friend, Pauline. We are always able to share our feelings and help each other; so it was today. Pauline is due to have a hip replacement next week, so we did discuss joints, but we also looked at pictures of her 2 recently born grandchildren, one of each sort, born to her 2 eldest offspring.
Pauline was nearly blipped as she stood in front of a modern sculpture at the Dales Centre. So was Lindsay Davies, the author, who spoke at "Crime and Cake" at Wall Village Hall this afternoon. I hope she writes as well as she speaks; she gave a great talk.
In the end this image won the place of today's blip. I was driving back over the moors when I saw this man, John, start to prepare his model plane for take off. He was happy for me to take pictures - turns out he was a professional photographer in Spain in his working life. His first attempt with the plane resulted in a quick nose dive into the heather. No damage was done to the £1000 baby and the second attempt was a success. The plane soared in the skies above the moors.
Here they are afterwards. John said he was shaking all the time the plane was in the air.
