All Things Southerly

After yoga it was a quick dash home to collect the camera and go to the port with Andrew to photograph various vessels.  I had trouble deciding what to blip and had decided on the first one I took because it has a person in it.  If you use your imagination there is a man jogging on the foredeck which is the helicopter pad.  I thought it was interesting that he is maintaining his fitness while in port.  The Southern Star is an offshore support vessel.  It is working off the coast of Taranaki in the North Island to decommission the Tui Oil field.  It will be removing subsea infrastructure.  The company that had the permit for the oil has gone bust so our Government has taken over the assets and is managing the decommissioning.  We also saw fishing trawlers, another offshore tug/supply vessel and a factory fishing ship with a Russian name but flying under a New Zealand flag.   All very interesting. I think this looks better large.
The weather has turned southerly with rain and a cold wind.  Driving back home we could see a patch of snow on a high point.
Last nights dinner was successful.  I found the rub I used a little spicy but everyone else liked it.  Today the cold pork made a good sandwich.  It was nice to set the table and make an effort with the food.

When The Ship Comes In    Bob Dylan

Oh, the time will come up
When the winds will stop
And the breeze will cease to be breathin'
Like the stillness in the wind
Before the hurricane begins
The hour that the ship comes in

And the seas will split
And the ship will hit
And the sands on the shoreline will be shaking
Then the tide will sound
And the wind will pound
And the morning will be breaking

Oh, the fishes will laugh
As they swim out of the path
And the seagulls they'll be smiling
And the rocks on the sand
Will proudly stand
The hour that the ship comes in . . .
