The path to the postbox.
I just had a birthday card to put in the pillar box.
Such a routine errand and yet it turned into an enchanting fairy land.
All over England at the moment thousands of miles of footpaths and country lanes are like this. Walking along the footpaths around the village is such a pleasure.
This is, of course, Cow Parsley. Anthriscus sylvestris. It is one of our most common wild flowers.
Being so widespread it has a large number of local and regional names. But Cow Parsley is by far the most widespread. It simply comes from the leaves being inferior to real Parsley and has nothing to do with cows eating it.
Personally I prefer one of its other names - Queen Anne’s Lace.
