School for Scoundrels
The boys entrance on Ainslie Park High School.
As well as being my alma mater, former pupils include musician Bert Jansch, a brace of footballers and MPs, ghetto scribe Irvine Welsh and it's most illustrious graduate the yardman.
The building opened in 1948, but the design with its glazed brick stair towers, flat roofs and Eric Gill-esque relief panels echo the pre war moderne.
The kind of place a little Belgian might hang out...Hercule Poirot and the Chibbed Teacher.
Entirely appropriate given that in its time it was a veritable finishing school for north Edinburgh's aspiring crims and Olympic standard radges.
