Budgie boxes
So. These budgies are in the aviary at the Care home where Dad is living now. They are at the other end of the building to where his room is so I am not sure he has ever been to see them. I ventured to have a look at them today when I went to the home to collect a few bits and pieces for him.
That leads on to the rather abrupt Blip and extra published yesterday! I had a phone call from the home just after 6pm yesterday to tell me that Dad had had a fall, was in quite a lot of pain and they had called an ambulance which was going to be some time. I sorted myself out and then went to see him. He was indeed in a lot of pain and was lying on the floor as the staff had been told by the ambulance service not to move him. It turns out he was trying to put his night attire on and he says his leg went from under him and he fell. Being the somewhat naughty boy you saw in Tuesday's blip, he was not wearing his emergency caller and he had put his fall alarm mat under his bed - in spite of having been told not to! He says he managed to wiggle around so he could press the mat to call for someone. Anyway, the evening progressed until 1am when I decided that I just had to come home. He was still lying on the floor with some blankets and his duvet over him and had been given some paracetamol. The ambulance eventually arrived at 4 am and determined that he had either broken his right hip or the middle shaft of his upper leg. They took him off to Worcester and told the care home staff that he would need a family member with him. I picked up that message this morning and was just about to phone the hospital when the orthopaedic doctor phoned me for some information and to tell me that Dad would be having a right hip replacement within the next few days as it was broken and that I couldn't go to see him as A and E is closed to visitors. I have spent quite a long time this evening trying to get through to the Orthopaedic trauma ward but no-one is answering. I will try again tomorrow to see if I can at least drop a few things off for him.
And so we go on...
